Ever wondered what people are eating in different parts of the world?
Well, I do!
What better time than February could it be, with Valentines around the corner, to embark on a culinary journey together and feast around!

We all agree that Valentine’s Day is a time to show that special someone in your life how much you care, and what expresses that more than a well planned, elegant dinner for two? Anyone can make a reservation but not anyone could stay home and set a table for 2 can to show you really care.

(umm, a little suggestion) If you are setting the mood for love, then you should keep the meal light, the portions small, and surround yourself with scented flowers and candlelight. ( i am already feeling love is in the air. )

What flavors would be perfect for a Valentine date?

You can order the starter and the dessert and work on the main course yourself.
Here is a simple recipe to get you started for the humble Spaghetti.

  1. 1/2packet of spaghetti
  2. 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
  3. 1/2medium zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch slices (1/2 cup)
  4. 1/2medium carrots, thinly sliced (1 cup)
  5. 1/2cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  6. 1medium onion, diced (1/2 cup)
  7. 1cloves garlic, finely chopped
  8. 2medium tomatoes, seeded, cut into 1-inch pieces

(salt and pepper to taste)

Steps :

-Cook and drain spaghetti as directed on package.

-Meanwhile, in 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and garlic; cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until vegetables are crisp-tender.

-Stir in remaining ingredients except for basil and cheese. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until hot. Stir in basil. Serve sauce over spaghetti. Sprinkle with cheese. Makes about 2 1/2 cups sauce.

That’s Amore! Celebrate your Valentines in this tremendous Italian style.

February is the month of the Aquarius Zodiac sign. Let’s talk about the water carrier, born anytime between the 20th of January to the 18th of February.

Those born under this sign can appear mysterious and enigmatic to others. This is a great quality to possess as it draws people to you. These free minded independent thinkers love music and are very self-reliant. In fact so independent that often they can appear to be aloof and snobbish.

The water carrier tends to do things differently because they think differently and are prone to be misunderstood. They appear to be eccentric and their choices seem unusual and sometimes reckless. This is because they are spontaneous and have a great sense of adventure. Repetitive work is not for them; always thinking ‘out of the box’; they are constantly seeking new ideas and activities.

Well, these traits come very handily to the innovators. Am I right Aquarians?

The Aquarius is a lifelong learner with a natural gift for becoming innovators and leaders of change in technology and society. They dream big and have the ability and strength to implement their ideas.

Most mundane careers do not appeal to the Water Bearer. They have an inner need to be noticed, and a real aversion to boredom.

Lemme share a little piece of advice with you.

-Aquarians should ideally seek professions and jobs where they are able to use their planning ability and sense of idealism while indulging their fascination with technology. Do not expect an Aquarius to be happy compiling data or working on repetitive tasks!
Well, that’s what the experiment says!

There is a uniqueness about the Aquarius woman, and she’s always a bit different, on the cutting edge of what’s new and hot. Independence and originality characterize the Aquarius, and when it comes to shopping, that means you like to hunt out and buy pieces that aren’t like anything you’ve seen before

Change is hard, especially when trying to create healthy new habits.  So instead of jumping full force into your New Year resolution for a better, healthier, smarter you, take it slow. How about one new habit each month? Huh!

Every month we will focus on one topic and by this time next year, you’ll be a whole new YOU!  Failing to achieve goals can adversely impact on our self-esteem and mental health. The key is to set several small goals and watch your tiny victories add up to a Big- Win. EXCITED?

Let’s start the year with most doable of things – EAT! EAT! EAT! But eat more fruit!

The best part is that there are studies to prove that eating fruits increase people’s happiness. Changing food habits by including a few fruit portions a day can make a change not only to your health but also to your mental wellbeing. Easy han?

The difficult part is to find a foolproof way to stick with the PLAN. In order to follow this, you need to remove all psychological and practical barriers that stop us from eating fruit.  What could these be? Here are some I thought of – Fruits are too expensive; too difficult to get and time-consuming to eat. Well if you are honest with yourself none of these are difficult to overcome. You can always choose to eat the fruits that are in season and locally available.

Go out and buy them. Eat them while working at your desk, watching television or even walking. Try eating them whole without going through the trouble of juicing them. (Juicing fruits is not only a waste of time but also waste of valuable pulp and fiber). In fact, juicing contains more calories and eliminates the fiber and antioxidant-rich flavonoids available in whole fruits.
For a happier and healthier 2018 go ahead and pick-up a fruit or visit our blog for more lifestyle hacks. There are plenty to chose from your roadside vendor – just rinse with water and eat on your way to work, meeting or home.

Some you may remember the famous festival: Spain’s Tomatina festival  recreated on celluloid for the Bollywood film “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”.

Were you curious about the origins and what really goes on?

This rather bizarre tomato fighting festival is organized in the Spanish town of Buñol (about 38 kilometers away from Valencia) on the last Wednesday in August. La Tomatina festival is held in honor of the town’s patron saints, St. Louis Bertrand.

The festival started in 1945, but it was officially recognized in 1952.

There are several theories about how La Tomatina started. It is said it started as an accident.  On the annual parade of gigantic figures with big heads  passing through the streets of Buñol. Some young people accidentally knocked over one of the giants. The person dressed as the giant was furious and immediately attacked people he saw. Others grabbed some tomatoes from a nearby vegetable stall and started throwing them at the man.

The fight began.

Apparently, the same thing happened next year and “El día de la Tomatina” was born.

The event just kept growing and becoming more popular. During the competition, the women wear all white and men do not wear shirts.

The first event of La Tomatina begins at about 10 a.m.

A ham is put on top of a pole. Competitors have to climb and get it. To make the mission much more difficult the pole is greased. Everything is accompanied by loud singing and dancing. When someone accomplishes the task and gets the ham the main event starts.

Tomatoes for the Tomatina are brought from the Spanish province of Extremadura.

These tomatoes are of lower quality and can not be used as food. The whole battle, or maybe better huge chaos, starts with the firing of water cannons.

Tomatoes must be squashed before throwing to avoid injuries.

The festival lasts for a short time and water cannon strike the crowds meaning that La Tomatina is over.

Friends, there’s no doubt that you make your life better. Your friends pick you up when you’re down, celebrate your milestone moments, and hang out with you. But beyond providing awesome support—and lots of laughs—several studies reveal that your friends can also influence your relationships, career performance and opportunities, and general life success.

Here are some ways in which your friends may have influenced your life;

Friends always have an opinion on who you should date and when you should break-up. The council may me from a good place, but it is essential to remember that it is based on the individual’s life experience and it is important to be confident and value your own ideas and needs.

Goals and Aspirations:

You want to get better grades, earn that next promotion, or even make more money, hang out with people who are already doing those things. A  students’ social network data study, concluded that while the students didn’t choose their friends because of their friends’ grades, those who hung out with high achievers improved their own performance. And what about those who hung out with underachievers? You guessed it—their grades dropped. Studies have also shown that the manner in which our friends react to our success and choices also impact our future goals and aspiration.

One of the best ways friends influences each other is to encourage, irritate, remind, show up, and be there for exercise. Research proves that having friends to exercise with really improves both persons’ health, even if that friend is just a walking canine companion. Vice versa, if your friends aren’t physically active at all, it’s likely that exercise will become less of a priority for you.

Think about it: we tend to compare ourselves to the people in our social group, and the social group we wish we were in, so if our friends have more than us (money, looks, things, etc.), then we tend to feel worse about ourselves and our lives, on the other hand, if we have a bit more than most of the people in our group, we tend to feel better about our lives. Obviously, self-esteem should come from within, though, so take a step back and reevaluate if you find yourself guilty of this.

Your Style:

Along with your geographic area, your family, and the media, friends have a big influence on what you wear. The more important fitting in is for you, the greater your friends’ influence will be. So when it comes to your clothes, whatever style it is that you’re used to seeing on a day-to-day basis, the more likely it is you’ll adopt this look for yourself.

Different groups of friends lead to more success.

Having friends is great, but having friends from various social groups is even better.  For instance, making contact with just tech people or finance people— doesn’t offer much advantage. Instead, the most successful people move between different clusters, passing information and building bridges between groups. These people get promoted more quickly, earn more money, and receive more recognition. The lesson: If you haven’t already, get out of your comfort zone and make friends from different departments, industries, and professions. Your social life and career will benefit.

The company you keep says a lot about you. Friends have a big influence over how you feel, think, and behave. Friends are a beautiful gift to us. They add meaning to our life, enrich us, share our problems and bring joy to our lives with their presence. It has been truly said that friendship is one relation which is not pre-destined like all other relationships. We are free to choose our friends.

Tell us about your friend.  Do you share special connections with them?

Examine the area from under your arms, past your bust and ribcage, over your waist and hips to the fullest part of your thighs. Then look at the 4 body shape sketches above. Once you know your shape, you need to examine your proportion, scale and your features e.g. bust, tummy, arms, thighs.

As children, we are all encouraged to read stories about men and women who have had a positive impact on the world. We chose Role models and learn important life lessons from them; lessons about courage, persistence, morals, and ethics.

Most of us don’t come equipped with a clear set of ethical standards on our own.  We receive lessons from others to a certain extent, but it’s more likely that we acquire our moral sense through vicarious processes. Studies have shown that one way people become ethical individuals is by having ethical role models when they are young.  The learning they receive as children become the foundation for becoming an ethical adult.

As we grow older these ethical role models from our childhood begin to lose their impact and current role models begin to shape our attitudes. The current role models are quite likely to be people you work with, your managers and people who have become famous on social media.  We’ve all been exposed to public figures who might qualify as “anti” role models.  Their antics may include being aggressive toward paparazzi or admitting to abusing illegal drugs.  Being bad is just plain sexier than being good. Unfortunately, because these are the public figures who get the most attention, it’s easy to lose our own moral compass and come to believe that we too will get more of what we want in life if you act out every once in a while.

Just because we’ve become adults doesn’t mean that we’re impervious to ethical influences, both good and bad.  We may not even be able to identify precisely the ways in which we’ve been affected. The process of vicarious learning is such that it occurs outside of direct conscious awareness. No one may be telling you to act ethically, but when you see ethical behavior rewarded, your mind draws its own conclusions and ultimately may direct you to follow suit.

It is a great idea to identify a positive role model who you admire and who’s work gives you inspiration and strength.

Tell us who was your role model as a child and who you admire as an adult.
